Closed For The Season is a Horror type of book because of how it's mood is being set. It starts off when a family moves into a new house. Logan is one of the main characters and his family moves into a new home, what didn't know about the house was that the owner of the house was murdered in that house. Arthur is another main character and he is the neighbor next door to the house. Logan doesn't really talk to Arthur because of how "weird" he is. There is also an amusement park nearby which is where most of some creepy things happen. When I say creepy things I mean that a lot of murders happen in that park and no one goes in there. Arthur tells Logan these stories and they both go and try to follow them and solve them.
       What I mostly think about the book is that if you like horror or mystery then this is the book for you. I say it's the book for you because Logan tries and solve mysteries and some interesting stuff happens down the way. Something that nobody has told Logan and his family that in there new house, they have a wall that's full of money hidden inside. This book is such a mystery and horrifying in it's way that why I like it, I like many books with different genres. I like new things and this book is me trying something new and if you like new things then definitely read this book. 

Native Americans Being Marginalized? Alex's Response

Shanice talks about in her essay that how will people find out that she is Native American. She talks about how many people are in her tribe and even outside of other tribes. Shanice Britton grew up in the indian reservation center in Covelo, California. She tells the reader about what tribes you can be involved in so she is in five tribes named Wailaki, Yuki, Pomo, Concow and Nomalaki. The meaning of her essay that she wrote is that she isn't different from any other teenager besides her being Native American. Since she is in five tribes she has a lot of traditions and clothing that they wear on one of her special days. In her community in where Shanice lives is really "comfortable" because everybody knows everybody which makes her feel that type of way instead of other cities where they make you feel like a stranger. She also talks about how she can keep the tribes running because her tribe died and now she doesn't know the language they spoke, anyway she still goes to ceremonies and figures it out there.

  Now that Shanice is seventeen she now has entered a college and the percentage of Native Americans that go there is .07%. Not many Native Americans around in school areas so when Shanice attends her college people always ask her questions about her culture on how she celebrates it. Shanice doesn't mind the questions because since there is only such a small majority of Native Americans it doesn't offend her. She doesn't always care about others, she cares about herself too because she is just like any other person there at the school by trying new things and trying on new clothes and even eating new foods. After reading this story it makes me and other readers think about how anyone can become successful by just following your dreams and also by trying new things because since she is Native American nobody is going to judge you on who you are, nobody is going to judge you on the way you wear your type of clothes or even on how you speak. It makes me think about you just being yourself the person that you are.

Tolerance Blog

I think that tolerance to me means something that your being told what to learn. Also I think it deals with your behavior on how you feel. Once you get the meaning of tolerance I think that when get the hang of it then you will be better at things and then you'll handle things more easier than before. If your little brother picks on you and you start to get angry then that's something that you tolerate, instead of pushing or yelling at your brother you tolerate it. By living a more tolerant life you will just accept the things that are offered and given to you instead of being picky or fussy about it.

Fallen Angels is a book that is based on a war to fight in Vietnam while Perry is in the United States Army. Richie Perry is the kid that has graduated from high school and has moved on into the army at age seventeen. He is a African American kid that lived in Harlem which is located in New York where he grew up in so he is very known around his area. So most people that know Richie don't call him Richie they call him Perry. It was kind of a joke before because when he said he was going into the Army people already started calling him by his last name so he could get use to it. So now that Perry is in the Army he meets a few new friends that go by the name of Harold aka "PeeWee". PeeWee is his closest friend that he met out of everyone in Vietnam. 
      What I personally think about the book is that you don't know what your going to expect on the next page you read. Every page you read is a whole different story when you finish a page, in the beginning of the book it's giving off how Perry meets all of his friends in the Army. After Perry had met some of his friends then that is when he was put into combat. When Perry was put into combat he always finds a way to make himself feel good when he is there by being provided by his new friends.  

The Invisible Chap

There is a young chap named Alex, Alex moved to a new area from his previous location in Lyonville. Alex now went to a brand new area in Berlyn, he didn't know the people, didn't know the surroundings and buldings that were there so he decided to stay inside all day in his house for months and months. There was no space or room for anything he wanted to do so the chap stood inside his room all day everyday, he was feeling depressed and he didn't as much space and much area as he used to before. Alex was invisible from his other fellows from his previous area in Lyonsville which was amazing and his favorite place he could of ever of been.

Joel Osteen's book You Can You Will is a type of a "motivational book" by making yourself a better person. Joel Osteen is a pastor in Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas by doing his speeches in front of thousands of people. The beginning of the book is talking about a actor in the 1980s-present that was homeless at one point of his life for awhile. He lived in his old and broken down car that he owns that's overlooking Los Angeles on a hill where he dreams about himself being the biggest actor in the world. His name today is Jim Carrey, he took himself a check out for $10,000,000 and put it into his wallet so he can have his dream in his pocket so he doesn't give up on it. What this book is explaining in the first few chapters is that you can have a picture of your dream printed out for you to see and you can put that picture anywhere, so when you wakeup you can see that dream everyday and not lose focus or confident on it.
      My thoughts on the book is that it can help anyone out in there future and keep your dream on your mind. I really like this book more than any other book because this one talks about your future and goals that you want to accomplish. I want to accomplish my goals myself and this book motivates me to not forget about my dream and my goals. I had this book recommended to me by my sister because she had read the first book by Joel Osteen, I would also recommend this book to anyone else because if you have goals you want to achieve then this is the book to make you concentrate on it. This book was a nonfiction book so if anyone enjoys a this type of genre than this is a thumbs up for you and you will enjoy it.

In the book We Were Liars I usually like every book I read but We Were Liars is a book I really enjoyed and I would really recommend it to anyone that might enjoy it. In this book I feel that this is one of the books by the author that really made her famous for her. We Were Liars was taken place in Beechwood Island, Massachusetts USA on there own little private island. The main family that takes place is the Sinclair family, the Sinclair family even has it's own phrase they say "No one is a criminal, No one is an addict and No one is a failure". That saying is what proves the who the Sinclair family is. In the beginning of the book Cadence Sinclair Eastman gives a little description about her life and what her surroundings are. Cadence explains her whole life throughout the book are also shares how they got into there own personal island. Cadence is main character throughout the whole book telling her own story about her life and her families life. 
     Towards the end of the book Cadence and her cousins family had a rivalry between each other. During the summer Cadence and Gat set fire to the big house to finish off the rivalry. Now that I gave off a lot of information in the book it's now your turn to read the book. I really liked how the book started by giving off a map of the family tree and also finishing off the book in a weird way that I would've never of known. I totally recommend this book to any reader because I felt that in this book it started off as an adventure type then it transitioned to a action book towards the ending which is interesting. 

The Giver by Lois Lowry Book Summary

So far into the book, The Giver I think that it is a good book, because it's Science Fiction. It really makes you think about the theme of survival. It is similar to a few books I have read like the Hunger Games and Divergent, because they both have similar meanings to it. In my opinion I think the Hunger Games is like a survival type feeling mood, and Divergent is the same way- only with different powers that you are given. In The Giver, the main characters are Jonas and Asher. These two are very different from each other. Jonas is the type of person who is very funny and who jokes around, Asher is the type of person that takes things seriously. So when Jonas and Asher are together they both clash and sometimes don't get along, but in the end they still get back together. Also, later they meet another person down the road, named Lily. Lily is similar to the both of them, except Lily is a girl and she got put into the "One's" group and was given a ceremony. At this point into the book I think they fight in a survival type match and decide who's the best and they get chosen.  
          Towards the end of the book, Jonas and The Giver who is the leading person of there event were talking and discussing about their grandparents. Jonas really didn't understand what grandparents really meant and what it stood for, So Jonas kept wondering about his grandparents because no one can see old people anymore so they have them separated in a different building. For Jonas grandparents meant "parents of the parents long ago" which he thought it meant, so The Giver explained to Jonas that it is people that don't live with us anymore which is the new meaning of grandparents of there time. Jonas also didn't really understand what love meant too so The Giver had to teach him what it meant because they grew up in different eras and The Giver is more of like a teacher. Overall I really like The Giver because of it being a type of book that I like to read.

Alex's Sixth Book Summary/Byrd & Igloo A Polar Adventure Book

In this book Byrd & Igloo the main characters are Maris Boggs a small women, Richard Evelyn Byrd which is a 37 year old man and Igloo, Byrd's best friend he took along everywhere he went most of the time. Byrd had rescued Igloo which is a little scrappy fox from the streets in Washington D.C. In the book they take a trip from the port of Los Angeles on October 10, 1928 and took a 10,000 mile trip to Antarctica. Not only was it just them going to Antarctica it was also 3 other ships carrying 2,500 pounds of pemmican, 2,000 pounds of cocoa and 3,000 pounds of powdered milk, last but not least they had dehydrated fruits and vegetables. While all of this is happening Byrd and Igloo are still together and they don't plan on leaving each other. 

Alex's Fifth Summary/Night By Elie Wiesel

A summary so far of what's happening in our book is it's taking place during the Holocaust in 1944. Elie Wiesel the author of the book is telling one of his personal stories but remastered into a story. Now in the beginning of the book it starts off being in the ghettos and in concentration camps in Germany with the Nazis. Wiesel begins to not stand up for anyone and just be on his own, most Jews really don't stand up for each other because they already know the consequences and don't wanna get killed. Some words in the book aren't always English because of what country they are in so it's sometimes is in German which makes things a little complicated but gives the book a more of a historic background to it.  

Problems During the Holocaust

During the holocaust there were many bystanders instead of upstanders at the time. If Jews misbehaved any of the rules they were given by the Germans then they would either get beaten up or killed which made the Jews resist from standing up for each other. I myself would've been a bystander in these types of situations too because of how terrible you can get treated. If it were a little problem with a Jew having an issue with a German then I would step up if it's only one German involved in the situation. Another major problem that was going on in the holocaust was the torture chambers and camps that were happening to the Jews. When following German orders at that time you must or else you will die no matter what which caused many innocent Jews to die. 

Bangladesh Kills Over 110 Workers

Tragedies in Bangladesh 

November 25, 2012 in Dhaka, Bangladesh over the weekend more than 100 workers died in a fire and of smoke inhalation. The problem that many factories suffer are that a lot of factories don't have many fire escape exits and plans if a fire happens, which caused many people to die. These factories produce products for major companies such as Tommy Hilfiger and Gap which are sold by Walmart, Walmart knows that these workers suffer everyday of these hazardous chemicals but don't plan to help out or even stop it. A member from the fire department named Major Mahbub says that "The fire could have been caused by an electrical fault or by a spark from a cigarette". Someone in the building may have done this or could even have a machine blowup and caused a fire.

Problems With FIFA In Brazil And In Sweatshops

A major issue that the citizens of Brazil were facing was a huge association named FIFA. FIFA was hosting it's FIFA World Cup in Brazil on July 14th 2014. Millions of fans across the globe came to visit the world cup but many didn't notice that why wasn't anybody really happy outside of the world cup's stadium. FIFA tore apart hundreds and thousands of homes to make one of the largest soccer stadiums but only for a month. Innocent citizens that lived in that location where the stadium was built were evicted from their homes because FIFA was building a stadium on there homes. This was such a major issue that more people in other countries seen that this was breaking so many rights that they didn't want to attend the world cup nor even be apart of it's association. This made me upset because the government of Brazil allowed this and spent billions of dollars to build this stadium but didn't spend billions of dollars to the people in need in Brazil. 

Many people that are working in a sweatshop are really tired and really stressed. Everyone that is working in a sweatshop are feeling like if they are a machine because they don't have any emotions or feelings. I think that this poem was way worser than how it was in Brazil because of FIFA, millions of workers feel like this in sweatshops. This face all of these fears across the whole world working for major companies and don't get paid a lot. The poem about sweatshops was really interesting because you had a perspective of how a sweatshop worker felt and for the article you only had facts and information about how it was. 

Alex's Fourth Summary/The 39 Clues: Into The Gauntlet

The 39 Clues: Into The Gauntlet

"Into The Gauntlet" is the tenth book in the 39 clues series. I think that this is one of my favorite books in the series so far because of it's main point of the book . Dan and Amy both return back to London for another clue hunt and they have to right down most things they do on their trip in another country. The clue is that they both are searching for a valuable coin that has a script on it, the only way the you can see the script is in person. The only problem that they both have is that the person that has the coin is a pet monkey called Isabel Kabra which is weird because it's a monkey and not a person. It's pretty smart on how they planned it but the guy who put the coin on the monkey is anonymous so know one knows who he is, Dan and Amy now have to find many clues in their trip. 

The type of genre for this book is a novel, it's half and half with novel and with adventure which is something I personally like in a book. What I don't like about the book is that the author gave up on some of the interesting parts in the book. What I mean by the author giving up on the interesting parts is that as soon as you get into a scene the author goes ahead and switches the mood in the scene which makes me annoyed. I have read a genre like novel/adventure and I like it, I think it's something that I can really get into and can always read again. I always enjoy each book that comes out in the series because of it's mysterious clues and stories and I would recommend it to someone. I'm very excited to see if I can be able to read the 11th book in the series and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. 

The Treasure of Lemon Brown

My response about "The Treasure of Lemon Brown" is that it's a story about a kid named Greg that ignores things that his father does says about his job in the past. Greg doesn't really pay attention to any of the things his father is saying like Greg's father is telling him to be successful in life but Greg is a kid and he just doesn't wanna pay attention. Greg goes and find a guy that's "homeless" named "Sweet Lemon Brown" and listens to him. They were both in a dark and secluded warehouse when they met. Lemon Brown was talking to Greg and was telling him that he should listen to his father telling him these stories, seconds later they both hear a sound... They hear a noise in a dark and scary place at the time and they don't know what it is so Lemon Brown told Greg to go and leave because Lemon Brown didn't want Greg to get hurt or anything at the time. I think when Lemon Brown told Greg some advice Greg really understood it and took all of his knowledge he just gathered and put it to use. Now when Greg is listening to his father he should be thankful that his father is still around because Lemon Brown had a loss on his own and that stood out for Greg.  

Alex's Third Summary/The 39 Clues: The Emperors Code

The 39 Clues: The Emperors Code

The Emperors Code is the 8th book in the 39 Clues series and it is a really good book. My summary about the book is that Dan Cahill is being kidnapped by two people and Dan is being dumped into a lollipop factory by the two kidnappers. The owner for the lollipop family listens to Dans story and let's him stay at the factory and treats him nicely by giving Dan his own home. While all of this is happening Amy Cahill and Nellie are searching for Dan but don't manage too. Amy and Nellie try and try to look for Dan but never find him until... almost to the end of the book. I don't wanna spoil any more of the book but overall I really like the book and I would recommend to anyone that enjoys the 39 Clues series.

Under The Blood-Red Sun is an amazing book by Graham Salisbury. The genre of the book is a fictional novel because it includes some history of pearl harbor. The main character in this story is Toni a Japanese American boy. Toni lives in Hawaii and he witnessed pearl arbor in Japan. Their was a lot of racism going on at the time because of the government and especially around the time pearl harbor was happening. Toni's mom gets shot and Toni's friend Sanji gets killed by Americans. I totally recommend checking out the book I enjoyed the book, check your local library or Amazon and check it out.                                                                                                                                                                                               

Alex's First Summary

The book that I finished is called 39 Clues: The Diamond Thief. The book overall was a really good book and I would recommend it to anyone. How is the Diamond Thief good? well the 39 Clues has a really good series going on for a long time and the whole series is good. The meaning of the book is that two people have to try to stop a guy that wants to steal the most valuable diamonds in the world and it's in a protective case. The two guys are detectives and they try and follow the bad guys footsteps and they have to plan their strategy to try and catch them. I want spoil anything about the book anymore but last thing I have to say is that it's a very good book.
